NJD were appointed by the lead consultant to carry out the role of Consulting Structural Engineers for this single-storey school extension in Waterford City.

 

This project involved construction of a new Home Economics Lab, a Science Lab & Prep Room, and an entrance lobby in a split-level design.

Working adjacent to the historic building at St. Angela's required innovative foundation design and sympathetic structural design at the interface with the existing building.

The roof structure is a combination of prefabricated roof trusses and flat roof joists supported on structural steel beams.​

Reinforced Hollow Block Piers and Perimeter Band Beams were used to provide additional restraint to the cavity wall construction.
